If you want maximum flexibility to travel with public transport to more places throughout The Netherlands, the public transport chip card (OV-chipkaart) is the best option for travelling on all trams, buses, metros and NS trains. Public Transport Holland.com has created the option to lease an OV-chip card for a short period for € 3,- (+€ 5,00 reimbursable deposit).
This is a full functional OV-chipkaart which you can reload with travelling credits to your own travelling purposes. (upload it on-line with your credit card at: http://www.public-transport-holland.com/product-category/public-transport-chip-card-credit/
At the end of your visit to the Netherlands, you use the provided return envelope to sent the card by postal services back to us and we will reimburse the € 5 deposit and the remaining travelling credits (minus € 2 administration costs per card).
With the LEASE OV-chipkaart, with enough travelling credits, you have no concerns anymore about going to any City, attraction or museum wherever in The Netherlands using Public Transport. Whit this ‘lease’ OV-chipkaart you have maximum flexibility and the same advantages Dutch inhabitants also have.
Choose your credit
By ordering your Lease OV-chip card at public-transport-holland.com, we can charge your OV-chipkaart already with an initial amount of travelling credits of your choice, just for a small fee so that you can use it immediately after arriving in The Netherlands.
Furthermore, if you want to be able to travel by train we have already activated this ‘lease’ OV-chipkaart for either first or second class traveling by NS-trains.
Leasing a public transport chip card
The most important tip for using your public transport chip card is to always remember to check in and check out every time you change from transport medium. ! At the start of your journey, hold your card up to the card reader until you see a green light and hear a beep. Do the same every time you leave the tram/bus/metro (also required if changing to another bus or tram). In buses and trams, card readers are located inside the vehicle next to each door. If travelling by metro or train, you need to check in and check out at the card readers located on free-standing poles near the entrance/exit of each station.
On all forms of transport, look for the OV-Chipkaart logo (pictured above right). If you forget to check out, your card may no longer be valid for the subsequent part of your journey, and if you forget to check-in you risk being fined by the transport operator.
Please note: if travelling on local public transport with a rechargeable card, the card must contain enough credit to complete a single journey. And for NS train travel, it is necessary to have a minimum of €20 credit on the card before checking in.

Thank you!!
Your leasingcard is just genius. I’ve told everyone that are planning to go to NL about them:)
We had a wonderful time in both Amsterdam and Rotterdam, studying your amazing architecture.
Enjoy your upcoming weekend.

No brainer, anyone visiting NL for more than 3 days should get this. You can just get on and off any transport without thinking of what tickets to use, it’s easy to top up, easy to pick up and easy to drop off. The most hassle free way to go around NL!
